- skruntskrunt from Edmonton. The Noise / Electroacoustic / Computer Music project of Abram Hindle. Scathing geek noise combining power electronics, musique concrète, computer synthesis, samples, algorithms, and technological failure. Recent performances have explored speech-to-text synthesis, AI-assisted sound generation, no-input techniques, and the general misuse of computers in pursuit of loud and aggressive sounds. https://skruntskrunt.ca/ https://youtube.com/watch?v=sUjWrnk-sk0
- Andrew Tailleur from Edmonton. An exploration of tangible electronic instruments. https://materialist.bandcamp.com/track/neu-funktion https://materialist.bandcamp.com/
- Scrambled Ego from Nanaimo, BC. Cathartic analog pedal abuse based rhythmic noise. http://scrambledego.bandcamp.com https://scrambledego.bandcamp.com/album/august-2015-improv-album
- East of Sonder from Edmonton. Duo guitar, one backing noise loops while the other brings in depth and drone. Using distortion for vocals as well. https://archive.org/details/2026-04-03-kinshirinji
- Garlands from Edmonton. Garlands uses psychedelic drone and cosmic harsh noise to create sonic soundscapes of disorienting bliss. At times subdued, sometimes energetic, but always massive in sound, Garlands conveys feelings from psychedelic, paranormal, and spiritual experiences. https://dirgecollectiveforever.bandcamp.com/album/nightmarish-visions-of-the-hallucinogenic-thrull https://porchcollapse0000.bandcamp.com/track/the-dispossessed
- Jacob Audrey Taves from Edmonton. Local noiser obsessed with glitch and error. Has toured extensively in Europe, Canada and Japan. https://www.jacobaudreytaves.ca/
- Bibby Fibb from Lloydminster, Alberta. Armed with a mandolin, bass guitar, mini cymbals and a dashboard of effects, Lxc and Xtna deliver a screeching unscripted sandstorm of sound, sure to leave audiences wondering why. https://bibbyfibb.bandcamp.com/album/try-angles-2
- KRASUE from Edmonton. A noise duo living on Treaty Six Territory. We’re loud, we’re mad, and we’ve got the guts! Due to the spontaneous nature of their sets, they have no recorded material.
- Porous Treatment from Calgary, Alberta. Porous Treatment is a harsh ambient and power electronics project. Extreme and ambient, experimental and ritualistic. https://poroustreatment.bandcamp.com/album/if-my-memory-serves-me-right-ill-never-turn-back-time https://poroustreatment.bandcamp.com/album/lugubrious-fungus https://youtu.be/Nhehfz8A6Go
- Commuter from Edmonton. Jared Epp, Wes Christiansen (aka Old Mound), and Ethan Bokma bring the noise with a blend of free jazz and noise rock/metal.
- Eldritch Moratorium from Calgary, Alberta. Eldritch Moratorium is the “conceptual harsh noise” project of multidisciplinary artist k.jackman, occasionally accompanied by collaborators and/or friends. The project is an unpredictable amalgam of various noise styles dependent on theme. Past conceptual ideas have included competitive bodybuilding and new school religion, with performances branching between high concept and the absurdist. https://lavenderdream.bandcamp.com/album/demonstrations-of-power
- SHEARS from Edmonton. Barbarous blasts from the big boys. https://youtu.be/vOyj0RJ15rM
- Psychedelic Attack from Vancouver, BC. No-input audio mixing combined with video feedback creates evolving visual patterns that strobe at illusion- and hallucination-inducing frequencies while simultaneously being translated into audible textures too complex to follow consciously. The sound and light overwhelm and become indistinguishable while the brain attempts to associate and project meaning. https://youtu.be/waoL95m_kL8 https://vimeo.com/748653133 https://youtu.be/AcZXxizFnV8
- Obelix from Calgary, Alberta. Calgary harsh noise project focused on action-driven noise: pedal noise with homemade contact mics, field recordings and object recordings as sound sources. https://obelix-av.bandcamp.com/album/scrap-25
- Le TRASH CAN from Yellowknife, NWT via Mexico City, MX. Le TRASH CAN is the one-man vocal-based Harsh Noise / Cut-Up / Live Performance Action-Unit of Manu Armida. Conceived in 2012, the project has been active throughout North America, with performances known for their individualized approach to space, utilizing rooms, floors, stages, sound systems, audiences, and volume pressure as an expanded active live member. https://soundcloud.com/leleleleleleletrashcan https://leleletrashcan.bandcamp.com/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tNqsb7kFt0
- Tense Relative from Edmonton. Tense Relative, the project of Dan Lower, really fucked up in 2023, went dormant in 2024, and performed nine shows in 2025 as TR and as the unit GXTR (with Garlands), who break up after every show. Tense Relative brings an unpredictability to harsh noise performance that dares the audience to leave. A few people really seem to like it despite the performer’s best intentions. - ECHTHROS & MET GLAS from Calgary, Alberta. A collaborative harsh-noise set pairing MET GLAS’s harsh noise with ECHTHROS’s effected vocals, including side-chain compression that causes one performer’s signal to cut in and out in response to the other. https://metglas.bandcamp.com/ https://echthrosnoise.bandcamp.com/
- Photon from Edmonton. Photon is an improvisational collective that seeks to push the boundaries of sonic expression through explorations in novel instrumentation, harsh timbres, and energy. They draw inspiration from Ornette Coleman, late-era John Coltrane, and Pharoah Sanders, embracing free rhythmic and harmonic structures. Photon is Will N-R on saxophone, Matt McKenzie on bass, Dylan Lindsay on saxophone, and Tony Flanagan on percussion.
